Part of the romanticism of gorilla tracking is the hard, long journey it takes to get to Bwindi. Invest in the local economy along the way, rub shoulders with the 'locals', stay in a dodgy inn if your bus dies ... UWA is inadvertently selling the experience, warts and all. I applaud their accidental genius.

Shawn, my belief is better run clubs lead to better federation administrators, better fans, and most importantly better players. I believe world over (correct me if am wrong) football starts with clubs. For as long as we have miserable clubs run by uneducated and poor guys, we can't have good players, and good admins as federation level and our game will remain struggling.
There is no doubt that Uganda has talent. What is missing is how to develop this talent. Like you initially said we need marketing professionals to sell this talent we need management professionals to manage this talent. We need professionals in the game of football. We need ambitious guys, educated guys running the clubs, running the federation. Right now we have some educated guys but they are working with the traditional football supporter in Uganda who never went to school.
Passion alone isn't going to help our game. We need some brains. And if you aren't willing to get involved in the club you support then let us not expect much from anyone.
The bazungu have made sport an industry, an enterprise than employs millions. From ballers to marketing executives to sports scientists.
In Uganda we are happy to consume what is produced in Europe instead of getting into the kitchen and preparing out own food our own football.
For as long as we continue eating football from TV we can as well forget about our own.

Thanks so much you made sense here and may be we need to start some where and we will get this game to another level. We need to do a lot of education to the country and those who want this game improve must get involved in the game.

My arguments have always come to piss off certain individual but my intention is not personal but i want a certain blend of football.

We need to get in touch and start from some where.

Shawn actually I agree with you. Football needs to be professionalized. That has always been my argument. The problem is the educated guys have shunned football. They have taken to TV and foreign football clubs and don't want to get their hands dirty working on their own clubs here in Uganda. These are the guys ranting about with no idea what it takes to run a football team.
We watch on TV and think that we have known enough.
Let me ask you Shawn and you don't have to answer. Ask your friends the same questions.
which local club do you support?
Are you a member of that football club?
Do you have a membership card?
Do you watch their games?
Do you attend their management meetings?
Do you take part in team selection?
Do you take part in match day preparations?

Now tell me if you aren't a member whom do you expect to work at FUFA?
They advertised the post of CEO and no one applied? Do you remember that time?
Why didn't the educated folks apply?
Because they are into TV football ?
Because they would rather watch footie on TV at just kicking bar than get their hands dirty building a club in Kawempe.

If you the educated guys don't get the guts to build your clubs and make them strong we shall continue having what you call 'dirty' uneducated guys running football in Uganda. We shall not get professional and we shall not improve and we shall not achieve our potential and grow it and dominate.

It's starts with ending our addiction to TV football and getting our clubs in order. That way we shall have superb educated delegates electing FUFA presidents with a purpose.
Even if Mulindwa left today another one like him would emerge.
Why? Because the whole pipe is full with the the similar guys waiting for their chance.

You and only you can be he change you want.

I would like to disagree with you strongly on matters regarding football, whether pundits and analyst have improved their experience on TV or the Stadium. Football is now a scientific game that is won at home or away from home.

My brother the problem with most writers and administrators think that football can be just won in a single day. I would like to ask you to name for me a pool of 11 players who are under the age of 20 years that have been groomed for the future national team.

One day i went to meet the CEO of FUFA Mr. Edgar Watson for a chat about Corporate Sponsorship and marketing the beautiful game of football.

When i reached at FUFA House as the headquarter of the game of football, i expected to find people busy discussing business but i was shocked to see men and women eating Katogo and seated on top of their desks something that means that there is no work to be done but a place to hang out. What shocked me was finding dirty chaps speaking loudly on top of their voices, playing Ludo and this indeed proved how much work was not at Mengo FUFA House.

The game of football has evolved from that game played and managed by non-school going chaps, but it is now an elite game that is won physically, skillfully, scientifically and technically. Mengo – Mulindwa administration seems to be only thinking about one ground and that is physical tactic of winning.

The game of football has created employment world over, a CEO is hired and a team to work with him must be professionals not Radio and TV presenters who have made the loudest voice to promote your agenda in staying around while you are making money and some of the members of your administration enjoying. Professional men and women must be hired to bring results that will grow the game of football so that structures that will help the game grow from grassroots to the national team are put in place.

When Uganda Cranes loses a game, the Mulindwa Administration and Ugandans loose. Things must change both in managing and playing game of football in Uganda and at Mengo or else we will continually go to Namboole Stadium to receive shocks over and over again, while Mulindwa and group count shillings in their cars smiling to the bank.

The game of football must grow and be appreciated by players, administrators and institutions that have nurtured players, but let us not be selfish and stand in the way of progressing the game of football.

The biggest problem in the game of football right now is electing illiterate and no vision delegates that have no program about the game of football in their areas but are available to sleep in nice hotels, get allowances and vote for anything.

We should learn from this experience and many others to shun voting these kinds of delegates for the betterment and growth of the game of football. But before we embark on a journey that will bring a smile on the faces of Ugandans and football players we have to get of the rotten, vision-less administration of Mulindwa out and build structures afresh. This will take some time but after building hope will be with us as we will not continually worry about players and football policies in Uganda.

Samuel,
I said I have heard about these indiscretions by priests what I want and what I believe everyone wants is evidence. You say you have names, Fr. Musaala claims to have names but how will the Church investigate when these names aren't given out? Do you want the church to investigate all the priest in the country? That would be impractical.

I said priests aren't angels, they sin just like everyone sins, sinning doesn't make them less of priests.

If you and Musaala are genuinely concerned about reforming the church and not seeking attention, you'd report the priests involved in criminal activity to police and those committing wrongs to the bishop.

Please do not assume that because a rumour has been told several times over the years everyone including bishops has heard it and or that it makes it true.

Unless you report these 'bad' priests to the authorities like the police and the church leaders you are simply spreading rumors like Musaala did and I believe am justified and everyone is justified to question your motives.

Please don't be a fanatic believer. i have evidence and names of these 'monks' fathering children and even one with two 'wives.' Now, even though I left the catholic church as a result of this, I haven't gone around uttering their names.
Reason is simple, I was too cowardly and i couldn't publish it in the media without giving away the identities of these people as evidence. Father Musaala is not looking for cheap popularity; He is already the most popular catholic priest in the country. He is simply better placed to bring some attention to this subject without dropping names. And that he did.

Now, the church has long been shamed, so forget about that. What we wanted was that instead of secretly handing out 3, 6 or 12 months bans from this act of service or the other, the church let's us know it's position on these acts because even if you are trying to protect the honour of your former service fellows, you do know these to be true.
So as you say they are not called to service and are pretenders, let them leave or be expelled from the leadership they hold so that the confessions of Christians are heard by people who take the cross seriously not worse closeted sinners.
If you want to verify the allegations; if true or false, let the church setup a hotline or email to receive these names with evidence from the public. Believe me, the catholic in you will be so heavily rocked. That's if faith is a important to you as religion seems to be.
